This coffee maker and travel mug set was designed over the course of several days as part of an accelerated interview project. For the drip coffee maker, I was tasked with reskinning an existing OEM model—maintaining internal architecture to minimize part retooling while delivering a bold new form language. The design introduces a gently tapered body, a sloped upper housing that tucks beneath a floating top plate, and refined metal touchpoints that elevate the overall aesthetic. Paired with a complementary travel mug, the result is a cohesive product family built around functionality, visual harmony, and manufacturability under real-world constraints.
The user interface balances clarity and elegance with a segmented digital display, bronze-finished metal buttons, and clearly labeled pad-printed functions. Iconography provides instant feedback—like brew strength, plate heat status, and readiness—while preserving a minimalist aesthetic that aligns with the overall form language.
A sloped top surface leads the eye to a stamped metal finial, giving the coffee maker a refined visual focal point while aiding in steam deflection. Steam vents are discretely integrated around the perimeter, and a branded icon adds subtle identity. A proud touchpoint at the front provides intuitive access for filling and emptying—function wrapped in finesse.
